Free Pregnancy Testing & Ultrasound

Am I really pregnant? You don’t have to figure out the answer to this question on your own or face the possibility of an unexpected pregnancy alone. Corbella Clinic is here for you. If you’ve already taken an at-home pregnancy test,  you may be looking at the result with disbelief. It’s common to have doubts about the accuracy of the test result and feel uncertain about where to turn next. Start by taking one step at a time. And we can help.

Corbella Clinic is your first step. Here, you will receive accurate answers from caring medical professionals who will empower you with correct facts to make informed decisions about your pregnancy. That fact-gathering begins with scheduling an appointment with one of our experienced registered nurses at Corbella Clinic for confidential urine pregnancy testing.

Why Pregnancy Testing At Corbella Clinic?

When you become pregnant, your body produces a pregnancy hormone called hCG. Home pregnancy tests work by detecting the presence of hCG in your urine. If hCG is found, the test will read positive. If the test does not recognize hCG, the pregnancy test result will be negative.

False negative and false positive results do occur with home pregnancy tests. Corbella Clinic helps to bring you clarity by providing lab-quality pregnancy testing. Our tests are highly accurate and read by skilled medical professionals so that you can trust the results.

If My Pregnancy Test Is Positive, What’s Next?

There is critical information that a positive pregnancy test cannot provide you, such as:

  • How far along you are in your pregnancy
  • The location of your pregnancy
  • If your pregnancy is viable

So, if your pregnancy test at Corbella Clinic is positive, we recommend having an ultrasound to give you the details you need as you think about your pregnancy decisions. Our medical team will let you know if you qualify for a no-cost ultrasound at Corbella Clinic.

Why Do I Need An Ultrasound?

For your health and safety, it’s very important that you have an ultrasound before proceeding with a medical or surgical abortion.

Why? Because ultrasound scans provide important information that a positive pregnancy test does not. A limited obstetrical ultrasound is essential for answering these three critical questions:

  • How far along you are in your pregnancy?
  • Is the pregnancy in the uterus (and not ectopic)?
  • Is the pregnancy viable/living?

How Do Ultrasounds Work?

An ultrasound is an imaging technique that uses a small wand-like transducer to capture images onto an ultrasound screen. One of our skilled registered nurses will perform the procedure, and our physician will examine the ultrasound images. Your ultrasound results will inform you as you think about your pregnancy decisions.

What Are The Risks of Having An Abortion Without An Ultrasound?

1. You risk having an abortion procedure outside of the set TIMING guidelines.

Medical and surgical abortion options available to you depend on how far along you are in your pregnancy. This can only be determined by an ultrasound.

2. You risk an undetected ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy located outside of the uterus).
Pregnancies typically implant into the lining of the uterus. But sometimes, a pregnancy implants in the fallopian tube or another location instead. This is called an ectopic pregnancy, and it is a life-threatening complication that requires immediate medical treatment. A medical/chemical or surgical abortion will not resolve an ectopic pregnancy.

An ultrasound shows your healthcare provider where your pregnancy is located and can detect an ectopic pregnancy early, protecting your health and future fertility.

3. You risk having an abortion you don’t need.
According to the Mayo Clinic, about 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage, which is why you’ll want to know if your pregnancy is viable before taking your next steps. An ultrasound will confirm the viability of your pregnancy.
